At a Strategic level, the business operations compose the Business Activity of the organization.
Definition
"Business Activity" is understood in a broad and high-level sense: the Business Activity of the organization is the aggregate of all relevant activities it operates to pursue its strategic goal. But more than just a compound, the Business Activity is a key element of the business strategy. Understanding the Business Activity is defining the strategic level of the Business Model.
Business Activity in the Bm2
The Business Activity is one of the 3 overall elements of the Bm2, together with the Business Functions and the Business System:
- The Business Activity is the application of the 3 Business Functions at strategic level.
- The Business System supports the Business Activity at a tactical level.
"Activity" vs. "Activities"
The Bm2 framework distinguishes:
- the "Activity" of the organization: the agregate of relevant activities (Strategic level)
- the "Activities": all the different actions considered in the Business System (Tactical level)
